Chapter Nine; Adrien

Looking through the house I see nothing missing. Teagan is a mess about the whole thing. Why haven’t I heard from the housekeeper? My paranoia has graduated. I jump at every sudden movement. How did I not see her in the park? How could I have let her take Teagan… Quite shaken, but only bearing a scratch Teagan looked up at me.
“I’m sorry I didn’t catch her, though I’m not sure what I would have done if I had…”
“It’s fine, don’t worry about it” I replied with caring eyes.
What would he have done..? And what was she looking for? I wasn’t sure I had what it takes to protect him. If she didn’t take anything then why was she here?
__________
The cold wind coming through the window woke me out of a dead sleep. Why is the window open?  I rolled over to see if Teagan was awake and he wasn’t in the bed. In a panic I jumped out of the bed and ran into the living room. The house  was silent. As I walked through  the house my panic escalated rapidly. When I got close to the front of the house I felt the cold night air on my feet. I glanced at the door and it was slightly ajar. How did I not notice that before?
I stepped out the door and the night air was bitter on my tongue. What is that smell… The aroma in the air was almost unbearable. As I covered my mouth I saw him. Teagan was sitting in the driveway. Not moving, just sitting there, silent. What the hell?
